Nordship 40 DS   

Deck saloon, centre cockpit cruising yacht with hand laid teak deck, cockpit and companionway – ready to sail away. Optional with shorter keel. Both boat and equipment are built according to EU guidelines for CE Certification class A, Ocean.

Hull and deck

Hand laminated DCP/ORTHO  GRP hull with XTG gelcoat. Dark blue sheerlines and waterlines moulded into the gelcoat. Sandwich construction in Balsa including deck and superstructure. Heavy solid teak fender beam. Lead keel secured to the hull with stainless steel bolts. GRP rudder blade and aluminium rudderstock mounted with two sets of needle roller bearings. Hull and deck are bolted and glued together. Below the waterline the hull has been sprayed with 2 coats of epoxy primer and 1 coat of antifoul.

 

 

On deck

Hand laid teak on side decks, cockpit sole and seating as on bathing platform. Heavy solid teak toe rail. Strong stainless steel mooring and midship cleats. Selftacking jib system. Stainless steel pushpit and stanchions, stainless steel pulpit with teak step. Teak and Stainless steel bowsprit with teak grating, hinged bow ladder, anchor, bowroller and 30 m chain. Anchor locker in foredeck. Bathing ladder at stern. Airtight sealed and ventilated gas bottle locker to starboard.

 

 

Superstructure

Non-slip GRP finish on the roofs of the superstructure. Integrated. Selftacking jib system. 4 skylights, the most forward is also an emergency exit.  7 windows in the deckhouse. Windscreen wiper to starboard side of windscreen. 8 windows in the cabin roof sides, 6 opening. All windows aluminium framed fitted with safety glass. 2 Dorade ventilators – one in the galley and one in heads. Handrails and cockpit coaming in solid teak.

 

 

Cockpit

Front cockpit for reserved for seating only, aft cockpit with mechanical steering type Jefa WP 100 IIT, engine control lever and lockable steering wheel. Emergency tiller. Compass. Self draining cockpit. Manual bilge pump. Teak washboards and sliding companionway hatch in plexigas.  Very large cockpit locker/workshop also accessible from interior. Raymarine Tridata ST60 log/depth sounder.
2 sheet winches Andersen 46ST. Adjustable main sheet track with traveller. Halyards and reefing lines are lead to the aft cockpit.

 

 

Mast, rigging and sails

Silver anodised mast and boom. Double spreader rig. The mast is deck stepped and is reinforced by Stainless steel tube under deck to the keel construction. The lead keel is fitted with Stainless steel bottle­screws. Main boom supplied with outhaul, 2 reefing lines and rod kicker. Single line reefing with 2 reefs. Andersen ST16 halyard winch and 2 cleats on the mast. Main halyard and reefing lines goes to the aft cockpit. Backstay with mechanical backstay tensioner. Windex. Fully-battened mainsail and roller furling self tacking jib.

 

 

Engine

GRP engine bed which reduces noise and vibration. 4 cylinder Volvo Penta Diesel D2-55, 55 HP, fresh water cooled engine. Saildrive with three blade folding propeller from Volvo.  Exhaust pipe with swan neck and silencer.  Diesel pre-filter and seawater filter to engine inlet valve. Well sound-proofed engine room. Good engine access from all sides. Engine and gear control instruments with visible and audible alarms. Rev and engine hour counter in cockpit. Warm water by motor cooling. Fuel tank capacity 360 L.

 

 

Electric system

115 Ah Alternator on engine. 12 volt system with 72Ah engine start battery and 3 x 72Ah general use batteries. Isolated circuits and main switches. and control/safety switch and fuse panel with voltmeter and fuel/water/holding tank gauges. Plentiful lighting throughout the boat, ceiling lights, reading lamps, engine room light and light at chart table. Internationally compliant navigation lights, steaming, anchor light and decklight.

 

Shore supply by 40 amp charger with main switch/fuse panel, 3 sockets and heater unit for hot water.

 

110 L electric marine fridge 12V TEC/ASU.

 

 

Heating, water, waste water

Eberspächer 5 KW heating system with 5 outlets. 2 stainless steel water tanks each 250 L. Pressurised water system with electric water pump. Hot water from 40 L insulated hot water tank heatable by engine or shore supply. Electric shower pump out. 2 x 60 L holding tanks. Automatic bilge pump.

 

 

Interior works

Matt finish varnished top quality mahogany. Floors are varnished teak on ply with inlaid stripes.  White foam backed vinyl headlings with solid mahogany trim. High quality cushions and curtains from pattern.  The boat has an open and functional aspect and offers optimal living conditions.

 

Interior customisation possible.

 

 

Deck saloon

Deck saloon with generous U-shaped sofa and saloon table. Chart table and switch/fuse panel to starboard. Adjustable steering stool. Ample storage in all areas. Fire extinguisher.

 

 

Galley

L-shaped galley with double stainless steel sink with hot and cold water, twin burner gas cooker and oven according to ECE regulations. Well insulated 110 litre marine fridge. Drawers and shelves. Crockery and glasses for 6 people.

 

 

Forecabin

Large double berth. Hanging locker. Storage compart­ments above berth. Ample stowage. Mahogany cabin side lining.

 

 

Passage to aft cabin / evening saloon

Book shelf and a chest of drawers separated by two armchairs. A good place to install and watch a television.

 

 

Aft cabin

Large island double berth. Hanging lockers. Storage compartments above berth. Ample stowage. Seat to port.  Cabin sides lined with mahogany.


 

Toilet compartments

Spacious compartment in the aft with toilet and shower separated by plexiglas pane. Small teak seat. Wet locker with drain. Shower pump out.

 

Another compartment with toilet to port of the focsle.

 

Each compartments furnished with white laminate bulkheads with mahogany trim and door. Each toilet  connected to 60 L holding tank, with deck and sea discharge. Washbasin with hot and cold water. Large cupboards over and under. Mirror. Ceramic tiles to floor.

 

 

Further equipment

4 fenders, 4 warps, ensign staff, 2 winch handles, emergency tiller and boom cover. 3 fire extinguishers.
